GDC Narrative Summit 2014 – Male Sexualization

My first speaking engagement in the game industry was at the 2014 GDC Narrative Summit, entitled “Fewer Tifas, or More Sephiroths? Male Sexualization in Games.” It focused on the relative lack of explicitly desirable or attractive male characters in games, explored their appeal to a broader market base, and gave tips and suggestions for how to write and create more diverse male characters.

The talk was incredibly well received and was the highest rated Narrative Summit talk of the year; it also gained notable press attention in North America, Europe, and Japan.
